Overview
Setting up the physical monitoring infrastructure in SwiftComply, creating monitoring sites within a site, entering water quality records, and configuring flow meters for discharge measurement.
Before you begin
The Monitoring program must be enabled.
Constituents must be configured in Settings > Constituents.
The site must be created and assigned to the Monitoring program.
Creating a monitoring site
Navigate to the site where monitoring will occur.
Go to the Monitoring Sites section.
Click to add a new monitoring site.
Fill in:
Name: A name for this sampling point (e.g., 'Outfall 001', 'Storm Drain A').
Site Profile: Classification of the point.
Coordinates: GPS position of the monitoring point. On a mobile device, use the Capture Current Site tool to automatically pull GPS coordinates of the outfall or sampling point you are standing at.
Click Save.
The monitoring site now appears on the site map.
Entering monitoring records
Open the monitoring site.
Click to add a new record.
Fill in:
Constituent: Select what was measured from the dropdown.
Value: Enter the measurement value.
Analysis Type: Select 'Field' or 'Lab'.
Analysis Method: Describe the testing method.
Click Save.
Records are automatically grouped into monitoring events. Adding records to the same event groups them for reporting.
Setting up a flow meter
If the Flow program is enabled:
Navigate to the flow meter management section.
Create a new meter with:
Name: Meter identifier.
Serial Number: Manufacturer serial number.
Calibration Date: Last calibration date. Keep this updated for audit readiness, and use it to track when equipment needs to be pulled from the field for servicing.
Site: Where the meter is installed.
Click Save.
Entering flow records
Open the flow meter.
Click to add a new flow record.
Enter the measurement data.
Click Save.
FAQ
Q: How do monitoring records connect to reports?
A: Report templates can include a 'monitoring sites' composite field that pulls current monitoring data from the site's monitoring sites.
Q: Can I mark a record as verified?
A: Yes. Each monitoring record has a 'Verified' flag that can be toggled to confirm the result has been reviewed.
Q: What happens if I delete all records in an event?
A: The monitoring event is automatically deleted when it no longer has any records.
