Creating an Inspection Report (Web)

This article walks you through the basics of creating, managing, and finalizing an inspection report using the Stormwater web platform.

Creating a Report

  1. Navigate to the desired Site Page.

  2. Under the Recent Activity widget, open the Inspections tab.

    • This may include: Weekly/Bi-Weekly/Monthly Inspections, BMP Inspections, Construction Activities, Routine Check-ups, CASQA Reports, Caltrans Reports, and more.

  3. Click Create Inspection.

If multiple inspection report templates are available, you can select the desired one from the dropdown list.


Table of Contents Navigation

Most inspection reports include a Table of Contents, allowing quick navigation:

  • General Information at the top

  • Inspection Checklist Items in the middle

  • Photos and Certifications toward the end

Saving, Abandoning, and Publishing a Report

  • Save Draft – Saves progress as a draft, accessible under Pending Drafts in Recent Activity.

  • Abandon Draft – Permanently deletes the draft from the system.

  • Publish – Finalizes the report, makes it available for analytics, and allows exporting as PDF.

  • Publish & Email – Finalizes the report and opens the option to email it to recipients.

Reports are also backed up with Auto-Save every 60 seconds.


Inspection Workflow & Fields

  • Pre-filled Data: Basic site details (name, address, etc.) may auto-populate from the Site Page.

  • Multi-Select Fields: Hold CTRL (Windows) or CMD (Mac) to select multiple options.

  • Weather Fields: Automatically filled from either NOAA (forecast data) or the site’s weather station (current/past data).

Deficiencies

  1. Toggle Add Corrective Action? to Yes.

  2. Click + Add Deficiency to enter details.

  3. Add corrective actions, comments, and photos as needed.

Enforcements

If enabled, you can add enforcements directly within the inspection report to track escalated actions or violations. These sync with the Enforcements program in your account.

Photos

Upload inspection photos directly into the report. Supported formats: JPEG, JPG, PNG. (Other file types such as PDF, GIF, or video are not supported.)

Finalizing a Report

  1. Review all inspection details.

  2. Add necessary signatures.

  3. Choose Publish or Publish & Email.

    • If emailing, you can request recipient acknowledgment (such as a permittee signature).
