Overview
The Violations page lists the violations and exceptions across your whole program in one place: those found on sample reports, inspections and submittals, and ones added by hand. In the left navigation, click Violations to open it.
The page replaced the Nonconformances page. Old links and bookmarks to the Nonconformances page open the Violations page instead.
The page has three tabs:
Violations — violations only. This tab opens by default.
Exceptions — exceptions only. This is the only tab where you can close exceptions in bulk.
All — violations and exceptions together.
Each tab name shows how many open items match that tab's current filters, for example Violations (12).
Working with the tables
All three tabs use the same columns, including Status, and are sorted by Submitted On, newest first. Each table has search, the advanced filter, the column chooser and saved views.
Each tab keeps its own settings. Filters, saved views and column choices on one tab don't carry over to the others. A view saved on the Violations tab doesn't appear on the Exceptions or All tab.
The All tab keeps your old settings. Saved views and columns you set up on the Nonconformances page are on the All tab.
Retracted items aren't listed. Violations and exceptions from a retracted submission don't appear on any tab and aren't counted.
The Violations tab:
Click a row to open that violation or exception. Clicking the Violations breadcrumb on its page takes you back to the tab you came from.
Exporting a tab
Each tab exports its own rows as a CSV file, using the tab's current filters and sort. The file name starts with violations_, exceptions_ or nonconformances_ (for the All tab), followed by the date and time of the export.
Adding a violation or exception by hand
On the Violations tab, click Add Violation. On the Exceptions tab, the button is Add Exception. The All tab has no add button.
The Create New Violation (or Create New Exception) window opens. Fill in the fields in order; each one unlocks the next:
Definition — Specific Control Condition or General Control Condition.
Classification — violations only.
Location.
Nonconformance Date/Time — it can't be in the future.
Legal Control — the choices depend on the location and date you picked.
Description.
SNC eligible — violations only.
Attachments, if you have any.
Click Save Violation (or Save Exception).
Closing exceptions in bulk
Open the Exceptions tab.
Tick the exceptions you want to close. Only Open exceptions have a checkbox. Your selection is kept as you page through the table, and is cleared when you change the filters or switch tabs.
Click Close. The button shows how many you've selected, for example Close (3).
The Close Exceptions window shows how many exceptions will close and warns: Closing an exception is permanent and cannot be undone. Add Notes (optional) if you want, then click Close.
The Exceptions tab with two exceptions selected:
An exception that already has a response can't be closed this way. If any of your selection can't be closed, the window tells you how many it will skip before you confirm.
What happens next
Closed exceptions show Closed in the Status column and no longer count toward the open totals in the tab names. Violations aren't closed from this page; they close as their responses are completed. See Compliance Status and the Violation Lifecycle for how statuses move.
FAQ
Where did the Nonconformances page go?
It's now the Violations page. Old links and bookmarks open it automatically.
Why don't the Violations and Exceptions counts add up to the All count?
Each tab counts with its own filters, so the three numbers don't have to agree.
Why can't I tick some exceptions?
Only Open exceptions have a checkbox. Exceptions that are already closed can't be closed again.
Why were some exceptions skipped when I closed them?
They already had a response, or were no longer open. The Close Exceptions window tells you how many will be skipped before you confirm.
Can I close violations from this page?
No. Only exceptions can be closed in bulk, and only on the Exceptions tab.
My saved view is missing.
Saved views belong to the tab they were saved on. Check the other tabs; views from the old Nonconformances page are on the All tab.
Why isn't a violation from a retracted report listed?
Retracted items are left off every tab and out of the counts.
