Overview
The Notes tab on an assembly's detail page gives you a structured, attributed history of notes on that assembly. Each note has a title, optional body text, a timestamp, and the name of who created or last edited it — replacing the pattern of cramming everything into a single free-text field.
Notes are separate from the existing Comments field on the Details tab, which remains unchanged.
Finding the Notes Tab
Open an assembly record.
Click the Notes tab (sixth tab, after Compliance History).
The Notes List
Notes are displayed in an expandable table with these columns:
Column | What It Shows |
Note Title | The note's title. A pushpin icon indicates a pinned note. |
Note Contents | A preview of the body text (truncated). |
# Attachments | Number of files attached to the note. |
Created On | Date the note was created. |
Created By | The user who created the note. |
Last Updated | Date of the most recent edit. |
Last Updated By | The user who made the most recent edit. |
Default order: Pinned notes appear at the top, followed by remaining notes sorted by most recently updated.
Click any row to expand it and read the full note contents and see any attached files.
Adding a Note
Click Add Note at the top of the Notes tab.
Fill in the fields:
Note Title (required) — a short subject that appears in the collapsed row
Note Contents (optional) — the full body of the note
Attachments (optional) — drag files onto the dropzone or click to select them from your device
Click Save.
The note appears in the list immediately. Any files attached to the note are also visible on the Attachments tab.
Editing a Note
Expand the note by clicking its row.
Click Edit.
Make your changes and click Save.
You can edit your own notes. Org admins can edit any note.
The Created By field never changes regardless of who edits the note. Last Updated By reflects the most recent editor.
Deleting a Note
Expand the note by clicking its row.
Click Delete.
Type
DELETEin the confirmation dialog to confirm.
You can delete your own notes. Org admins can delete any note.
If the note has attachments: Before deleting, you'll be given the option to keep the attached files and move them to the assembly level. If you choose to keep them, they'll remain visible on the Attachments tab after the note is gone. If you don't, the files are permanently deleted along with the note.
Pinning a Note
Pinned notes stay at the top of the list so critical information is always visible. Only org admins can pin and unpin notes.
Expand the note.
Click Pin.
A pushpin icon appears next to the note title in the collapsed row. To unpin, expand the note and click Unpin.
Only one note can be pinned per assembly at a time.
The Note Banner on the Details Tab
The assembly's Details tab displays a note banner — a preview of either the currently pinned note or (if no note is pinned) the most recently updated note. This gives you quick visibility into important context without having to navigate to the Notes tab.

A: Pinning is restricted to org admins.
