Overview
Survey compliance in SwiftComply Backflow is tracked at the location level, not at the individual assembly level. When a survey is accepted, the location's compliance status and expiration date update automatically based on your organization's configured compliance rules. This article explains how to view and interpret survey compliance information.
Where to View Survey Compliance
Survey compliance information is visible in two places:
Locations Table
The Locations table (accessed via Locations in the left navigation menu) includes two compliance-related columns:
Column | Description |
Last Survey Result | Displays the current compliance status for the location's survey requirement |
Next Survey Due | Shows the date when the current survey compliance period expires |
Location Detail View
Click on a location record in the Locations table.
The detail flyout displays the location's survey compliance information, including the last survey date and next survey due date.
How Survey Compliance Works
Survey compliance follows this lifecycle:
Survey Submitted -- A surveyor creates and submits a survey for a location.
Survey Accepted -- An authority user reviews and accepts the survey.
Compliance Updated -- Upon acceptance, the location's survey compliance status updates to reflect the result (pass or fail).
Expiration Calculated -- The survey expiration date is calculated based on your organization's compliance rules (e.g., surveys may be valid for one year, two years, etc.).
Status Changes on Expiration -- When the expiration date passes, the compliance status changes to indicate the location is no longer in compliance and a new survey is needed.
π The compliance period and expiration rules are configured at the organization level. Contact the SwiftComply team at help@swiftcomply.com if you have questions about your organization's specific compliance intervals.
Survey Compliance vs. Assembly Compliance
It is important to understand the difference between survey compliance and assembly compliance:
Aspect | Survey Compliance | Assembly Compliance |
Level | Location (property) | Individual assembly |
Tracked by | Surveys | Test reports |
Visible on | Locations table | Assemblies table |
Updated when | A survey is accepted | A test report is accepted |
Survey compliance applies to the entire location, while assembly compliance is tracked separately for each backflow prevention assembly based on its individual test reports.
Manually Updating Compliance Information
Authority users can manually adjust survey compliance data from the location detail view:
Open the location detail flyout.
Click the edit button (pencil icon).
Update the compliance date or next survey due date fields as needed.
Click Save.
β οΈ The next survey due date cannot be set to a date before the last survey date.
π Manual compliance updates override the values set by accepted surveys. Use this feature only when corrections are necessary.
FAQ
Q: Is survey compliance tracked per assembly or per location?
A: Survey compliance is tracked at the location level. Assembly compliance (based on test reports) is tracked separately per individual assembly.
Q: How is the survey expiration date determined?
A: The expiration date is calculated automatically based on your organization's compliance rules when a survey is accepted. These rules are configured at the organization level.
Q: What happens when a survey expires?
A: When the survey expiration date passes, the location's compliance status changes to indicate it is no longer compliant. A new survey must be submitted and accepted to restore compliance.
Q: Can I manually update the survey compliance dates?
A: Yes. Authority users can edit the location and update the compliance date or next survey due date fields. However, the next survey due date cannot be set before the last survey date.
