Backflow - What's New: Certification Number & Expiration Date Updates - April 2026

Test report forms just got a little simpler — here's what's changed.

Release date: April 17, 2026 | For Service Providers & Authority Users who submit test reports

We've made two small but helpful updates to test report forms: the Certification Number field now shows just the certification number, and the Certification Expiration Date fills in automatically.

What's new

  • The Certification Number field now contains only the certification number.

  • The Certification Expiration Date field now auto-populates.

Why you'll love it

Splitting certification details into their own fields makes it easier to confirm the right information lands on the final report. And because the expiration date now auto-populates from the certification you select before starting the report, there's no need to retype something the system already knows — fewer manual entries, fewer chances for errors, and form data that stays accurate and up to date. It's all part of our ongoing work to make test reports faster to complete and always tied to what's already in the system.

Good to know

  • The Certification Number field now shows only the certification number — not the agency and type. Nothing's been lost, and your PDFs will continue to generate as normal. You can confirm which certification number will appear on your PDF at the last step of the report, and you can always click Edit Tester + Kit to go back and select a different certification if you need to.

  • The Certification Expiration Date now fills in automatically — you no longer need to enter it yourself.

💡 Note: If you have a report already in progress, you may see a "Report data has changed" message. Just re-confirm your selections and continue — that updates the form and clears the message.
