What Are Authority Sample Report Configurations?
Authority Sample Report Configurations (ASRCs) define when sampling reports are due and what sampling and analysis is required. These configurations are created at the outfall level and do not require a legal control, allowing flexible setup and management by the Utility Authority.
All configurations are listed in the Sample Report Configuration table on the Outfall Overview Page.
Step 1: Report Configuration
Click + New Configuration.
Enter a name for the report.
Select assignment type (Authority or Industry) and specify required attachments.
For authority reports, set the report schedule:
Choose ad hoc (one-time) or repeating (e.g., monthly).
Define frequency, interval, and due date pattern (same date, Nth weekday, or last day).
One Time Report Schedule
Repeating Report ScheduleUse Show Dates to preview actual due dates.
You can save and exit at any point. The configuration will be stored in draft status until completed.
Step 2: Sampling Configuration
Sampling configurations define both when sampling must occur (Sampling Schedule) and how it must be performed (Sampling Specifications).
Sampling Schedule
Click Edit Configuration to set up the sampling schedule.
Define the frequency and interval (e.g., weekly, monthly).
Optionally limit the number of occurrences.
Use administrative and sample periods to control acceptable sampling windows.
For example, if a report is due April 15 and the administrative period is 15 days, sampling must occur before March 31. If the sample period is 3 month, samples must be taken between December 31 and March 31.
Sampling Specifications
Click + Add New Specification.
Define what is sampled and how it’s collected (composite, grab, etc.).
Add analytes and other instructions. Most fields are optional and can accept multiple values.
Multiple specifications can be tied to the same sampling schedule.
Step 3: Review and Activate
The final step shows a summary of the report schedule, sampling schedules, and specifications.
Click Finish to activate the ASRC. Sample reports are created based on the configuration.
Once activated, the ASRC moves from draft to active and can no longer be edited.
Managing ASRCs
Active ASRCs can move to:
Terminated – If ended early by the user
Expired – If the configuration has passed its end date
Terminated and expired configurations can be archived. Click into any configuration row to open its overview page and manage its lifecycle.
If the associated outfall or IU is inactivated, any active ASRCs will be automatically terminated.
Status Behavior
Draft – Configuration in progress. Editable and deletable.
Active – Sample reports are generated. Cannot be edited. Only action is to terminate.
Terminated – Ended early by the user. Reports due after termination are deleted. Can be archived.
Expired – Automatically assigned once the report schedule ends. Can be archived.
Deleted – Only draft configurations can be deleted.
Try It Out
Create an ASRC at an active outfall and complete the full configuration.
Activate it, then open the overview and terminate the ASRC. Archive it.
Create another ASRC and save it as draft. Open it from the table and delete it.
