Overview
Sites are the foundation of SwiftComply Stormwater. Every compliance activity, inspections, deficiencies, BMPs, monitoring, reports, enforcement, is tied to a site. A site represents a physical property or site in your service area.
Key concepts
Sites bind to programs
When you create a site, you assign it to a program (for example, Construction, Industrial, Post-Construction, or Outfalls) and a Site Profile in that program. Each program adds its own features to the site. A site can belong to more than one program, but only SwiftComply can add an existing site to another program. When you reconfigure a site, you see only the program or programs it already has. To add a site to another program, contact SwiftComply support.
Site data fields
Every site stores the following core information:
Name: The site name (required).
Site ID: An optional identifier your organization enters in the Site Info section when adding or editing a site. You can search for a site by its Site ID.
Address: Street, city, state, and ZIP code.
Coordinates: Latitude and longitude (used for map placement and weather data).
Notes: Free-form text notes about the site.
Status: A configurable site status (e.g., Active, Inactive, Closed). Defined in Settings > Site Statuses.
Compliance Status: A compliance classification (e.g., Compliant, Out of Compliance). Defined in Settings > Compliance Statuses.
Priority: No Status, Low (blue), Medium (orange), High (red), or Urgent (dark red).
Tags: One or more tags for filtering and organizing sites. Tags can be organized into tag categories.
Programs: The compliance programs this site belongs to, each with a Site Profile.
Programs may add additional fields. For example, Construction adds contractor contact fields, site acreage, and regulatory identifiers. Industrial adds SIC code fields.
Site detail page
When you open a site, you'll see:
A details card with the site's address, coordinates, contacts, compliance status, tags, and the site details for the program.
Recent Activity (reports, files, and enforcements) and Action Items (open deficiencies and upcoming reports).
Weather and a Site Map card with a small map of the site.
From the site detail page, you can create new reports, add deficiencies, upload files, and access all program-specific features.
Finding sites
You can find sites several ways:
Sites list, From any program in the left sidebar, you'll see a table of sites in that program. The columns shown depend on the program and your column settings. The table's Search Sites box searches by site name, street address, or Site ID.
Sites map, Click Sites in the left sidebar to see sites from all your programs on an interactive map. Its Search Sites box also searches by site name, street address, or Site ID.
Jump to..., Use the search box at the top of the dashboard, or at the top of any site's page, to search by site name, street address, or Site ID.
Filters, On any site table, filter by status, compliance status, or tags.
💡 The default page size for site tables is 50. You can change this to 10, 25, 100, 500, or 1000 using the dropdown.
Searching for a Site by Site ID
The Jump to... search, the Search Sites box on a program's sites list, and the Search Sites box on the Sites map all match a site's Site ID, as well as its name and street address.
Click Jump to... at the top of the dashboard.
Type all or part of the Site ID. The search isn't case-sensitive.
Select the site from the results. Its detail page opens.
In Jump to..., a site whose Site ID exactly matches what you typed is listed first. Other sites whose name, street address, or Site ID contains what you typed follow, sorted by name. The Search Sites boxes don't put an exact Site ID match first; their results keep the list's sort order.
📝 Note: The results list shows each site's name, not its Site ID. On the dashboard, a site that belongs to more than one program appears once for each program, with the program name after the site name.
On a site's page, the Jump to... search works the same way but only lists active sites in that site's program.
FAQ
Q: Can a site belong to multiple programs?
A: Yes, a site can belong to more than one program, and each program adds its own features and fields to the site. Only SwiftComply can add an existing site to another program. Contact SwiftComply support to change a site's programs.
Q: What's the difference between Site Status and Compliance Status?
A: Site Status is an operational status (e.g., Active, Closed) configured in Settings > Site Statuses. Compliance Status is a regulatory compliance classification (e.g., Compliant, Out of Compliance) configured in Settings > Compliance Statuses. Both are customizable per organization.
Q: How do coordinates affect weather data?
A: SwiftComply uses your site's coordinates to pull NOAA weather forecasts. Without coordinates, weather features like qualifying precipitation event detection won't work for that site.
Q: Can I see all sites across all programs?
A: Yes. Click Sites in the left sidebar to see sites from every program on the map, or use the Jump to... search on the dashboard. Jump to... lists active sites only. The map starts with active sites too; change its Site Status filter to include other statuses.
Q: I searched for a Site ID in Jump to and the site didn't come up. Why?
A: The search matches the Site ID field in the site's Site Info section. If that field is empty, or holds a different value, the site won't match. Jump to... also lists active sites only: sites whose status is marked Show by Default in Settings > Site Statuses. A site whose status is marked Hide by Default doesn't appear. To check the value, edit the site and look at the Site ID field under Site Info.
Q: My Site ID is long. Can I type the whole thing into Jump to?
A: The Jump to... search accepts up to 20 characters. For a longer Site ID, type the first part of it. The search matches any Site ID that contains what you typed.
