Overview
The Education program tracks public outreach and education activities, which are commonly required under MS4 permits. Instead of being tied to a site, each outreach event is logged as an Interaction, giving you a running log of presentations, workshops, booths, school visits, and similar activities.
How the program is organized
The Education program is not site-based. You work directly with two things:
Interactions: individual outreach events you log (the presentation, workshop, booth, school visit, and so on).
Interaction Types: categories you set up once, used to classify each new interaction (for example, Classroom Presentation, Community Fair Booth, Staff Training).
Logging an interaction
From the left sidebar, open the Education program and create a new interaction. The form will vary based on the Interaction Type you select, but most interactions capture:
Date and time of the event
Interaction Type
Curriculum or topic covered
Who provided the education
Who received it (the audience)
Attendance count
Any custom fields your organization has configured
Fill in the fields, upload any supporting documents or photos, and click Save. The interaction appears in the program's interaction list.
Admin configuration
Administrators configure the dropdown options and any custom fields under Settings > Education Interaction Settings. On that page you can:
Selection List: define the list of Interaction Types users can choose from. The label defaults to "Interaction Type" and can be renamed.
Custom Field: add a single custom field (with a configurable label) that appears on every interaction form.
Some advanced configuration (adding more custom fields or changing form layout per Interaction Type) is handled by the SwiftComply team. Contact your SwiftComply representative if you need changes beyond the Selection List and Custom Field settings.
Reporting
Interaction data can be exported to CSV from the interaction list. Use it to demonstrate MS4 public education and outreach compliance during regulatory reporting or audits.
FAQ

Q: How do I add a new Interaction Type?
A: Go to Settings > Education Interaction Settings and add the type to the Selection List.
Q: Is the Education program tied to specific sites?
