Using Template Version History

How to save, label, compare, and restore versions of a PDF output template.

Overview

Every PDF output template keeps a full version history, so you can experiment freely, recover lost work, and keep an audit trail of every change for compliance reviews.

How versions are created

  • Manual saves — kept in the history.

  • Auto-saves — created automatically as you work.

All versions appear in the version list.

Working with versions

From the version list, any version can be:

  • Labeled — give it a meaningful name.

  • Previewed — view it read-only without affecting the current template.

  • Compared — open a unified, side-by-side style diff between any two versions, with highlighted changes and previous/next navigation to step through them.

  • Restored — make it the current template.

How restore works

Restoring a version creates a new version — it never overwrites the current one. Your full history stays intact, so you can always step back again.

FAQ

Q: I lost an edit — how do I get it back?
A: Open the version list and look through the recent versions. Preview the candidates, then restore the one you want.

Q: Who changed the template, and when?
A: The version list preserves the full revision trail of the template, which you can review version-by-version with the compare view.
