Overview
The Global Map is a top-level view in the CloudCompli mobile app that shows all your stormwater assets — sites, structures, investigations, and ArcGIS GIS layers — on a single interactive map. Unlike the site-level BMP Map, the Global Map spans your entire portfolio and uses your device's GPS to show your real-time location in the field.
Access the Global Map by tapping the Map tab in the bottom navigation bar of the CloudCompli app.
📌 Site BMPs are not shown on the Global Map. BMPs are only visible on the site-level BMP Map within each individual site unless they are imported from ArcGIS.
What appears on the map
Asset Type | Marker appearance |
Structures | Color-coded: Blue (not yet inspected), Green (passed), Red (failed) |
Sites | Program-specific site icons |
Investigations | Distinct icon by investigation status |
Esri GIS Layers | Your organization's ArcGIS Feature Service layers (requires ArcGIS integration to be configured) |
Your location on the map
When you open the Global Map, your device's GPS position appears as a blue dot that updates in real time as you move. The map centers on your location automatically.
If location services are disabled, the map still loads — you can pan and zoom manually, but the blue dot won't appear.
Navigating the map
Pan: Drag to move the map.
Zoom: Pinch or use the zoom controls.
Dynamic loading: Assets load automatically as you pan or zoom — the map always reflects what's in the visible area.
Marker clustering
When many markers are close together, they group into a cluster badge showing the count. Tap a cluster to zoom in and see individual markers.
Viewing asset details
Tap any marker to see a read-only info popup with:
Name
Type
Current status
Last inspection date
Deficiency count
Toggling layers
Use the Layer Panel to control which asset types are visible:
Tap the Layers icon to open the panel.
Toggle individual layers on or off: Sites, Structures, Investigations, and each connected Esri GIS layer.
Your visibility choices are saved for the current session.
Changing the base map
Tap the Base Map control to switch between:
MapTiler (default street map)
ArcGIS World Imagery (satellite)
Google Hybrid / Satellite
CartoDB
FAQ
Q: What's the difference between the Global Map and the BMP Map?
A: The Global Map shows all asset types across your entire portfolio on one map. The BMP Map is scoped to a single site and shows that site's BMP implementations, boundaries, monitoring points, and deficiency markers only.
Q: Can I inspect a structure directly from the Global Map?
A: Not in this release. Structure inspections from the map are coming in a future update. You can tap a marker to view read-only details, then navigate into the site or structure to complete an inspection.
Q: Why don't I see some structures on the map?
A: The Global Map shows structures that have been imported from GIS via your organization's ArcGIS Feature Service integration. BMPs do not appear here — they are only visible on the per-site BMP Map.
Q: Why aren't my Esri/ArcGIS layers showing?
A: Esri layers only appear if your organization has configured an ArcGIS Feature Service connection in Settings. See Integrating ArcGIS and Configuring Map Layers for setup details, or contact Support.
Q: Why are some markers grouped into clusters?
A: When 500 or more markers are in view, nearby markers cluster automatically to keep the map readable. Tap a cluster to zoom in and see individual markers.
Q: Does the Global Map work offline?
A: Not in this release. Offline map caching and queued inspections are planned for a future update. A reliable data connection is recommended for field use.
