Using the Site Map (GIS)

View and edit a site's interactive map — perimeter, BMP markers, monitoring sites, deficiencies, and ESRI overlays.

Overview

Each site in SwiftComply Stormwater has an interactive map view with GIS capabilities. The map shows the site's position, site perimeter boundaries, BMP implementation markers, monitoring sites, and deficiency markers.

Before you begin

  • The site must have latitude/longitude coordinates set.

  • For boundary editing, you need Administrator permissions.

Viewing the site map

  1. Navigate to any site's detail page.

  2. The map appears in the left column showing the site's pin on the map.

  3. Click the map to expand it to a full-screen view.

Map features

Site perimeter

Administrators can draw and edit a polygon boundary representing the site perimeter. This perimeter is stored as GIS geometry and can be used for spatial analysis.

Layer groups

The map supports multiple layer groups that you can toggle on and off:

  • BMP Implementations: Markers showing where BMPs are installed on the site. Click a marker to see the BMP name and any unresolved deficiencies.

  • Monitoring Sites: Points where water quality monitoring samples are collected.

  • Deficiency Markers: Real-time markers for active deficiencies. Once a deficiency is resolved, the marker is typically removed or changed to a Resolved state to keep the map focused on current issues.

  • Regions: Named polygons, polylines, or areas within the site (e.g., drainage zones, construction phases).

ESRI Feature Layers (view-only overlays)

If ESRI integration is configured, additional view-only feature layers from your organization's ArcGIS Online account can be displayed. Configure these under Settings > ESRI Feature Layers.

Drone imagery

If the Drone program is enabled, aerial imagery can be overlaid on the map for visual site assessment.

FAQ

Q: Why don't I see anything on the map?

A: The site must have valid latitude and longitude coordinates. Edit the site and add coordinates if missing.

Q: Can I edit the site boundary?

A: Yes, if you have the appropriate permissions. In the full-screen map view, use the drawing toolbar on the side of the map to select the polygon tool, click the map to place vertices, and double-click to close the shape.

Q: How do I add an ESRI/ArcGIS layer?

A: Go to Settings > ESRI Feature Layers to configure feature layer connections. Your organization needs an ESRI account with OAuth credentials.
